I haven't updated my journal in a few months, so I figured it's time for a minor update on my part. I've recently begun a new photographic journey, one that challenges me conceptually and pushes me out of my comfort zone. So far I'm in heaven with the things I'm trying to do. I've had a couple of flops, but so far my project 52 is well underway. Yes, I've only technically completed week one. But trust me, it's not as easy as you'd think to figure out which direction you want to go with a photo that basically sets the tone for your week.


I just wanted to encourage those of you who actually read my blog to try something new. Step out of your comfort zone, live a little. For me that means taking a photo a week for 52 weeks, writing stories to accompany said photos, meeting amazingly talented artists (photographers and otherwise) and making this the best year that I possibly can. I hope you're all starting your 2013 off on a good note. I look forward to sharing my journey with you all!

Not many, I know. But it's something!

You may or may not have noticed that I got a new camera. I recently upgraded from the Canon Rebel XS to a 5d, which is a full frame camera- the difference in depth of my photos is unbelievable. Of course, in the same way, I have also switched direction with the goal of my photography.. and I am now trying to focus more on surreal photography work. I don't know how good at it I will be, but I have always wanted photos that tell a story, and I very much enjoy doing surreal work. The recent photos I uploaded (of model Meghan Chadeayne) were from my very first shoot with the new camera. They have brought me several new watchers, and I am quite excited to begin this new photography journey. And that's what it is- a journey- because I have no clue where it's going to lead me.

That said, success or failure, I welcome you all along with me for the ride. Good or bad, I'm going to keep plugging away until I figure out what it is I want out of all of this. We will see!

Thank you to everybody who has stuck with me from the beginning. It means more than you know.

Lately, I've been completely addicted to Macklemore, Radical Something, and several other bands that make me want to dance, make me want to cry, or make me want to think. What's your favorite band right now, or to be more specific, what do you like to make art to? What do you edit to, paint to, draw to, etc? Just curious.
